Motorists warned of insurance drink drive impact
Motorists have been warned not to drink drive in the summer months, as it could have a large impact on the cost of their future car insurance.
Research from uSwitch.com reveals that 14 per cent of motorists get behind the wheel despite being unsure if they are over the drink drive limit.
Also over the summer, the research noted that one in five motorists are more tempted to break the speed limit, something which if caught could make it harder to get cheap car insurance.
Motorists convicted for drink driving can expect their car insurance quote to rise by as much as 63 per cent, while younger drivers will see their quote more than double.
Those caught speeding once may only see their car insurance rise by £23 by if caught three times, quotes could rise by 49 per cent.
Mark Monteiro, insurance expert at uSwitch.com, said: "When the sun is shining it can be all too tempting to put your foot down and hit the open road but speeding is a serious offence.
"Not only can it cost you more money - it costs lives too. The best way to keep your insurance premium down is to be a safe and responsible driver."
